Centre for Feminist Action (CAF)
Formed between the end of 2012 and early 2013 in Iquique, Chile, Centre for Feminist Action (CAF) was born as as a political action strategy and physical space of converging lesbian, feminist, trans people, and women who gathered to dismantle a system of oppression that influence our lives and existence. CAF emerged in feminist urgency to create a group of political affinity in the city they live in and which bases its struggle in strengthening feminist autonomy and create concrete solutions with a feminist, lesbian, radical and independent perspective that can allow us build freedom from a hetero-prevailing, racist, capitalist and colonial hegemony. The group organizes workshops, forums-debates, reading circles, action-protests, dissemination of information about safe abortion and lesbian sexual health, violence against women (self-defense and legal action) feminist propaganda and production of theoretical and practical material. The group considers its networking with activists and grassroots women as its biggest achievement, who have now broadened their approach to the community with a feminist perspective since CAF was formed, and is also proud of raising the first Feminist Library in the city.
