FemCollective

Grantee / Armenia

FemCollective is guided by principles of feminism and works towards advancing those principles in society, while at the same time, being a non-formal group, it does not aim at creating formal representation and does not have a written mission and goals. It applies various methods too, focusing on feminization of public spaces. The group’s actions are situational. The collective’s work done so far has been targeting women of all ages and backgrounds through predominantly acting in public spaces. FemCollective’s work has so far been confined to urban spaces, however the group is cognizant of the need to spread to rural areas as well.

The group maintains that their work and the fact that they enjoy doing it is their biggest success. “Even if there is no “product” or ready thing which we can share, we learn a lot. We learn how to listen to children, how to listen to each other, how to work collectively, how to let ourselves into the fairy tale. We have been in several towns and villages and still planning to go and write down approximately sixty stories made up by children and ourselves. We really hope that this book will be a Book for a lot of girls afterwards,” they say.
