La Frida was formed in 2015 in Salvador city, Brasil. It is an organization made up of black cyclo-activists whose goal is to include and strengthen the mobility of women’s transportation plans as well as serve a tool for the emancipation of women in society. The group looks at itself as a movement that unites street art, stimulates female representation in urban mobility, expanding the voices of black women, occupying public spaces using the bicycle of an instrument of empowerment and transformation in society. Their project ‘Preta’ combines bicycle promotion and social inclusion with ethnic and gender equality. It is specifically targeted at black women, stimulating black female representation in mobility. Being able to bike in other cities in Brazil has been one of their highlights as a young feminist group.
