Minas Programam
Minas Programam was founded in 2015. The group’s mission is to to promote gender equality and to fight misogynist and racist violence. To this end, we promote workshops, classes on digital literacy and programming exclusively to young girls and women, and public debate sessions on how racism and misogyny affect women in tech. We also provide consulting services to schools and companies interested in improving their communication with women and gender related themes.
The group believes that empowering and emancipating women has been their greatest achievement. In all the activities that they conduct, the group cherishes and seeks inspiration from the feedback from participating women. “Being able to empower them is really rewarding. In the first edition of the Coding Couse for women promoted by Minas Programam, a participant, who had been struggling to continue working with IT, thanked us and said she never had an opportunity like that, to be with other women sharing their stories and supporting each other. This year, a young woman told us: “I gave up college and I did not know what else to do. I wanted to work with something else. But now I won’t give up!”,” they say.
