Rise Initiative for Women’s Right Advocacy (RiWA)

Grantee / South Sudan

Rise Initiative for Women’s Right Advocacy (RiWA) is a Feminist, Human Rights organization that was formed in Feb 2018, that aims at increasing the capacity of marginalized women and it’s dedicated to meeting the needs of Vulnerable women in South Sudan. RiWA was born out of the need to bridge the missing link of the untapped potential, comparative advantage & strategic resourcefulness of grassroots & peri-urban based women in the struggle to work towards realizing a supportive policy and social environment that enables healthy and productive lives.

So far, their presence in South Sudan has piloted extensive learning in developing this phase of the project. Partnering with local Human Rights NGOs and dialoguing with beneficiaries, stakeholders and local structures has been a significant internal source of learning for them. Economic empowerment is an effective entry point to promote economic autonomy and gathering members’ has proved to be an effective social forum for open discussion on Gender issues. They have started a female team known as crown football club to support women in sports through provision of Sexual reproductive health services and representation of Female in Sports.

Registration of Rise Initiative for Women’s Right Advocacy -RiWA has been registered as a National organization with South Sudan Relief and Rehabilitation Commission.
