Women in Tech Madagascar

Grantee / Madagascar

Founded in 2016, Women in Tech Madagascar (WITM) is led by 8 young women from the ICT sector. Women are opening up a little more to new technologies, but few of them really dare to launch. We will encourage them, through many activities in the future, to pursue the path they have chosen and to assert themselves in the ICT sector.

Their ambition is to help, support and encourage passionate women, while also training and promoting the employment of women in this sector. The group aims to integrate particularly more women in the field of new technologies. To achieve this vision, they have these missions:

– develop leadership and exchange of technological knowledge

– increase the participation of women in many fields such as media, technology and social

– demonstrate that women can master new technologies

Their biggest achievement has been their partnership with JCI Antananarivo on a digital house project of the Akany Avoko, a center for girls who are victims of violence. This place helps girls facing social difficulties to acquaint with technology, notably through the various training that will be given by WITM. JCI will provide training on areas such as health, nutrition and women’s rights, to name a few. WOT is thus the first responsible for the digital house.
