Cherisse is an attorney at law and educator from the beautiful island of Barbados. For over 10 years she has held personal and professional interests in human rights particularly the empowerment of women and youth as well as how they are treated in the criminal justice system. In 2015 and 2018 respectively I obtained my Bachelor of Laws (LL B) with First Class Honours from the University of the West Indies and an LL M in Human Rights and Criminal Justice (Distinction) from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland. After completing my LLM I began working in the anti-human trafficking NGO sector where I was posted in Belize. While there, I began lecturing as an adjunct Professor on the Criminal Justice Pathway for Galen University, Belize. Presently I am pursuing PhD studies at the University of Warwick where my research focuses on combatting trafficking in persons. Most recently, I have also been appointed as Trustee to the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative, London Office.
