Spirit Companion: Somewhere in between a silent cat and a wild tigress.
Fav Quote: ¨…we must learn to focus on warm energy. always. soak our limbs in it and become better lovers to the world. for if we can’t learn to be kinder to each other how will we ever learn to be kinder to the most desperate parts of ourselves.” – Rupi Kaur

Maria Alejandra Escalante has studied Human Ecology at the College of the Atlantic, Maine, USA, focusing on climate policy and agrarian studies. She is currently pursuing a masters research degree on Rural Territorial Development, looking into agricultural autonomous communities in Colombia. She has worked as an urban garden and social justice educator in San Francisco, California, and also been an active member of the climate justice movement, attending climate policy decision-making spaces, and co-founding TierrActiva Colombia- a youth led platform working towards systemic change at a national and regional basis. Maria Alejandra is a very happy salsa dancer, wishing to further explore her corporal expressions. She likes caring for plants and having vegetable gardens to then cook great vegetarian meals. She also enjoys riding her bike, gardening, watching the sunset, learning percussion, and spending time with her loved ones. She is fluent in native Spanish and English and has basic French and German knowledge. She tweets as @escalantemariaa.
