Advocating for the reform of discriminatory Muslim family laws and practices, Zul is the Capacity Building and Outreach Programme Officer for Musawah, a global movement for equality and justice in Muslim families. She graduated with a Masters in International Development and a Bachelor’s degree in International Relations from RMIT University and La Trobe University, respectively. Prior to joining Musawah, Zul worked as a youth consultant for UNFPA Maldives and lectured part-time at the Maldives National University, where she covered subjects such as the Politics of Gender, and Introduction to International Relations. Her work with UNFPA focused on youth access to Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights. Originally from the Maldives, Zul has also lived in Sri Lanka, USA, Saudi Arabia, Australia, and is now based in Malaysia. She speaks English & Dihevi.
