Favourite quote: “Culture does not make people. People make culture. If it is true that the full humanity of women is not our culture, then we can and must make it our culture.“: Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
Lea is a political scientist with deep interest in social movements and processes in Latin America, above all regional feminist movements. Originally from Munich, Germany, she is currently based in Santiago, Chile. Within the scope of an academic exchange during her BA in European Studies at Maastricht University, Netherlands, Lea discovered her fascination for Chile, to where she returned after graduating from a Master’s programme in International Relations by Universidad de Barcelona, Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona and Universitat Pompeu Fabra. “Within my studies I focused on feminism in the context of development, above all in Latin America. I am especially interested in fighting violence against women, and have conducted academic studies based on interviews with key actors on this topic in Argentina,”. Lea has also worked with NGOs on sustainability and social development. She is fluent in several languages: German, English and Spanish being a few, with some basic and intermediate knowledge in French and Italian.
At FRIDA, Lea helps us with Spanish translations and any support she can provide with our comms work for the LAC region.
