Otibho Obianwu is currently the Program Manager at the Population Council, Nigeria where she designs and conducts research studies on female genital mutilation/cutting. She has previously served as the project lead on an evidence-based learning and advocacy project aimed at improving the response of government and NGOs to the HIV-related vulnerabilities of Nigerian youth. She also has experience implementing HIV prevention programs targeted at key populations in Nigeria. Otibho actively volunteers at the Women’s Health and Equal Rights Initiative (WHER), a feminist non-profit organization focused on advancing the rights and well-being of lesbian, bisexual, and queer women in Nigeria. WHER is also a FRIDA grantee partner. Othibo holds an MD from Columbia University and an MPH from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Othibo likes singing along to and searching for music (all kinds), traveling, reading, listening to podcasts, having wonderful conversations with wild people, watching film, taking long walks in scenic locations, exercising and dancing. She is fluent in English, Nigerian Pidgin English, semi-fluent in Esan (Mother Tongue) and has beginner knowledge of French.
