Suzane Usein is a young Roma feminist from North Macedonia. She holds a graduate degree in Gender Studies, acquired from the Institute of Gender Studies in Skopje, North Macedonia and a postgraduate degree in Sociology and Social Anthropology from the Central European University in Budapest, Hungary. Her activism and research focus on empowerment of Roma womxn in the Balkan region, using an intersectional approach. Before joining as a Resource Mobilization Officer, Suzi was an intern and consultant at FRIDA, developing a research on how to provide holistic support to young Roma feminist groups in Southeastern Europe.
She is passionate about empowerment of womxn from marginalized communities, incorporating their voices in “mainstream” spaces and strenghtening solidarity among feminist movements. In her spare time, Suzi loves binge-watching tv shows and taking long walks by the shore. She is fluent in Macedonian and English and has elementary knowledge of German, Spanish and Albanian.
