Are you a young feminist who is passionate about seeing that young feminist initiatives around the world get the resources they need to flourish, and that young feminists themselves drive the strategies to address their concerns? Are you a fabulous communicator with big ideas and a commitment to building strong feminist movements? Are you excited by the prospect of a challenge? Are you creative, ambitious and interested in contributing to build a new fund guided and led by young feminists?! Does this sound like the opportunity you’ve been waiting for? If you answered “YES” to these questions then we want to hear from you! Please consider applying for the position of Co-Coordinator of FRIDA| The Young Feminist Fund.
Who are we?
FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund is a young feminist-led initiative that funds and strengthens the participation and leadership of young feminist activists globally.
FRIDA was created to bring new resources and new opportunities to young women and transgender youth globally. We believe that supporting young feminists is key to the expansion, rejuvenation and sustainability of women’s movements and organizations, both now and in the future. Launched in 2011, with support from AWID and the Central American Women’s Fund, in its first year FRIDA has mobilized nearly $270,000 and provided 15 grants in its first participatory round of grant-making to youth-led initiatives in Latin America and the Caribbean, The Middle East, Africa, Asia & Pacific and Eastern Europe and Central Asia. We will soon be announcing our second cohort of grantee partners.
FRIDA has recently established a co-leadership structure consisting of two ‘co-coordinators’ who will lead the Fund to its next exciting stage, complimenting each other’s skills, capacities and experiences. The decision to have shared leadership was made as part of FRIDA’s commitment to innovative approaches, transformative feminist leadership, and peer learning.
What’s the job?
The main responsibilities of the Co-Coordinators include: strategic leadership and coordination, operations and governance, resource-mobilization and communications, grant making, monitoring and evaluation, and capacity-building. A number of the core functions of this role will be shared with the other Co-Coordinator of FRIDA. The Co-Coordinators will work collaboratively in strategic leadership, coordination, networking and alliance-building for the fund. This General Co-Coordinator is a full time position and is responsible for providing leadership in the key functions of resource-mobilization and communications. The role also involves supporting the grant making, monitoring and evaluation, capacity building, and developing FRIDA’s internal operating systems processes led by the other Co-Coordinator. Given FRIDA’s rapid change and growth, and the implementation of this new leadership structure, co-coordinators roles are likely to grow and change in the years ahead and will require a level of flexibility. The two Co-Coordinators will work with AWID and the Central American Women’s Fund as well as FRIDA’s established network of Advisors to shape the Fund’s next phase of growth, including important decisions on FRIDA’s structure and institutional location.
Young feminist women and transgender persons under 30 from the Global South are strongly encouraged to apply.
Location: Flexible/Negotiable
How to apply?
