Patronus: A phoenix!
Fav Quote: “The wound is the place where the light enters you”- Jalaluddin Rumi

Towfika Sultana has a Bachelors in Economics from Asian University for Women and is based out of Bangladesh. Her professional career started early through several internships during her undergrad studies in different countries- two in Bangladesh, one in Cambodia, one in India, and one in South Korea. These internships helped her learn different aspects of development in varied social and organizational contexts that led to discovering her own role and goals as an aspiring development professional. She has been associated with several research projects focused on urban development, election violence, gender dynamics in Muslim families, and corruption in Bangladesh. After completing her Bachelors, she joined Sarus, a youth leadership and peacebuilding organization, as the Bangladesh-Myanmar Programs Director. In this role, she helped direct exchange programs for young women from both Bangladesh and Myanmar in order to empower them to reimagine their own cultural identity and find their individual voice in addressing challenges in their communities with empathy and courage. She conducted several peace leadership programs and initiatives focusing on non-violent communication, adaptive leadership, conflict resolution and youth empowerment. In her spare time, she likes to paint and doodle, watch thriller series, use social media, and spend time with family and friends. Towfika is fluent in Bengali and English, and has working knowledge of Hindi.
