In 2018, FRIDA | The Young Feminist Fund embarked on a leadership transition and a new Strategic Planning Process. In late 2019, former Co-Executive Directors, Ruby Johnson and Devi Leiper O’Malley, transitioned out of FRIDA. In mid-2019 we welcomed two new Co-Executive Directors, Majandra Rodriguez Acha and Nino Ugrekhelidze.
This is to inform you that as of 13 January 2020, Nino Ugrekhelidze, is no longer Co-Executive Director of FRIDA. The Board highly appreciates and would like to deeply thank Nino for her work and commitment to young feminist activism around the globe during her time at FRIDA. We wish her all the best in her new endeavors and in her journey ahead.
During Nino and Majandra’s co-leadership period in 2019, FRIDA finalized its new Strategic Framework, planned its upcoming internal Organizational Development process, and carried forward key work to support young feminist movements across the Global South. We recognize that leadership transitions can be a challenging process in any organization. We assure you that the FRIDA board and staff are committed to carrying out the transition initiated in 2018, as well as that this process is built upon feminist and participatory values that have sustained this young feminist-led fund until now.
As we prepare for next steps, we would like to inform you that the Board of Directors, Co-Executive Director, Majandra Rodriguez Acha, as well as the management team are currently working to find a suitable interim plan to support FRIDA and its team during this period. All the while, we are actively working towards creating a clear-cut process for recruiting a permanent Co-Executive Director.
Knowing the importance and urgency of these news, FRIDA believes that we must turn inward, reflect and be as intentional as we can by looking into the future and moving forward. We truly appreciate the understanding, deep empathy and support from our community during this time.
In solidarity,
Clara Fok and Sophia Pierre-Antoine, Co-Chairs of the Board of Directors on behalf of the FRIDA Board of Directors
