FRIDA’s statement on the assassination of Berta Cáceres

March 7, 2016

***English below, followed by other statements and solidarity actions***

The struggle continues in each of us ‪#‎BertaCaceresLives

It is with the outmost outrage that we regret the loss of our sister Berta Caceres, an activist and exemplary of the tireless struggle to defend our human rights.

For each us as a movement of women and feminists has been an invaluable struggle and guide to achieve more equal and just societies.

As young Latin American feminists part of the FRIDA community, we condemn the persecution and murders of women that stand for human rights.
We demand justice for Berta, we demand justice for each activist that inhabits our continent!

Stop the persecution and murder!

This is a statement of our support to all the sisters in resistance, that fear should not paralise us. We know that these are difficult times but today more than ever we have to stand together, struggle together until we are all free!

Thank you Berta for your struggle, for putting body and heart in our struggle. The strength of the Blanco river, of the Lenca territory, of your children, will live forever in her and in her symbol. She defended Honduras, her homeland. Berta wanted to defend her land. Berta wanted to and she did. We demand justice and we will make it happen ‪#‎stopimpunity

May Berta turn to the seed that grows our struggle to achieve social justice in Latin America and every other corner of the planet!
